My Morning Skincare Routine

I don’t consider myself high maintenance at all when it comes to my skincare routine (in other aspects of my life YES) but then I started counting how many face/body/haircare products I use each morning. The answer to which is a staggering 9. Yup 9 products I have to use each and every morning and that doesn’t include shampoo & conditioner or any cosmetics. How has it come to this?! I blame the world of blogging. Although my blog isn’t very beauty focused I tend to read ALOT of beauty blogs and get sucked into the latest must haves and miracle products. Years ago I used whatever shampoo and conditioner was on offer, was quite content with Nivea face cream and happy to dye my hair at home, remember those days?!

Anatomicals Body Scrub

Anatomicals Body Scrub

A great bargain buy, I like my scrubs quite gritty.

Murad Age Reform Cleanser

Murad Age Reform Cleanser

Received this in my goody bag from the Zen Beauty Event. Having used the Murad eye cream before, I am a fan of the brand. This cleanser may be aimed at mature skin but it works perfectly with mine and it’s pretty good at removing eye make up without stinging the eyes.

Dermalogica Daily Exfoliant

Dermalogica Daily Exfoliant

Almost completely out of it now after being one of the lucky souls to receive via Glossybox months back. I may actually shed a lil tear when this runs out as to buy it would set me back £40 and I just can’t justify spending that amount on one skincare product when my finances are in such disarray.

Stri-Vectin Eye Concentrate

Stri-Vectin Eye Concentrate

Another Glossybox goodie, I used this a couple of times then lost it and have only recently rediscovered it. A miracle product right here but comes with another hefty price tag at £41.75. I previously used Murad’s Hydro Dynamic Ultimate Eye Moisturiser. Eye cream is essential especially for a smoker like me (I know, I know, naughty Lea)

AVON Hyrda Radiance Day Cream

AVON Hyrda Radiance Day Cream

I quite often try different day and night moisturisers but this cheapy from Avon really does give some much needed radiance to my skin.

Crabtree & Evelyn Botanical Body Lotion

Crabtree & Evelyn Botanical Body Lotion

Same with my facial moisturisers I like to chop and change with body creams too. This morning I used this hence the photo. Not a fan of cucumber smells at all but the grapefruit overpowers it.

So that’s my body and face scrubbed and moisturised next it’s onto the hair:

Milk_Shake Conditioning Whipped Cream

Milk_Shake Conditioning Whipped Cream

A little of this leave in conditioner goes a long way and the smell is absolutely divine, actually smells like a strawberry milkshake.

Fish Heat Protection Spray

Fish Heat Protection Spray

Previously used a Trevor Sorbie spray but found this one works just as well plus I managed to buy it in a discount store for £1 a can – bargainous!

L'Oreal Mythic Oil

L’Oreal Mythic Oil

Once I’ve blow dried my hair I rub a little of this through the ends of my hair for some nourishment and shine.

There’s also different hair products I’ll use once I’ve either straightened or curled my hair. Then it’s onto make up and choosing an outfit. And this is on non fake tanning days. No wonder I’m always late for everything!

What are your skincare staples? Do you think beauty blogs and magazines have made it more acceptable to spend large chunks of money on skin/hair care products?

My Go To Accessories

Just a quick post today but these are the accessories I’ve been reaching for the past few days:

008

010

011

As I said here my usual Spring wardrobe of nautical type pieces isn’t doing it for me this year yet I still find myself accessorising with red, navy and white. My beloved Cambridge Satchel is the perfect shade of red and is fun to mix with the blue striped flats from New Look. The scarf I bought from Peacocks a few years ago, a cheap and cheerful number that pulls the rest of the accessories together. Despite the crazy weather I always keep a pair of sunnies in my bag and these vintage ones are my current faves.

Do you have favourite accessories you find yourself reaching for time and time again?

How I Wore….. Coloured Skinnies

For someone who owns gazillions of dresses recently I’ve build up quite a collection of trousers – mostly from H&M. These bright ones are also H&M and cost me a bargainous £6.49 in the sale. Those of you who read my post about the INAA.com event will know that I wore these trousers with a pink top. Today however I opted for pink accessories.

040

037

I was trying to pose properly but with Yvonne being the photographer and her son Lewis shouting “Do your flamingo” the end results are quite comical!

029

Not sure why my arm looks so freakishly big though.

041

I love the pop of the aqua trousers with the fuschia accessories. Wore this outfit today to meet Yvonne, Christie and Lewis for lunch. Just went to Frankie & Benny’s in Ocean Terminal, food was nice although we had to wait an obscene amount of time for it. Start work at 5 today so I will need to swap my heels for some zebra print flats and I’m good to go.

Top: Peacocks, Trousers: H&M, Bag: DKNY, Sunglasses: Vintage, Shoes: Have had for so long I can’t remember where I bought them from!

Spring Has Sprung (Supposedly)

My usual spring wardrobe of red and navy with a nautical feel is just not cutting it this year. Bizarrely I’m yearning for soft and pastels and floral and girly and even tie dye. Perhaps just looking at pictures of items which possess these traits while suffice? Or more than likely I’ll want them all!

As seen on Lydia Bright of TOWIE fame this dress cries out to be worn with dusty rose accessories and a pair of nude heels.

Pastel chiffon. ‘Nuff said.

An investment piece which could be worn over dresses or with jeans.

A basic floral dress which could be dressed up or down.

First off let me say I have NO idea why I like this dress. On paper I shouldn’t but there’s something about it that makes me want to act all ladylike and wear pearls and drink G&Ts (I don’t even like gin)

More tie dye than floral but still caught my eye.

Reko £65

Reko £65

Again not really my style AT all but it’s very sweet due to the floral print and bomber jackets are still “in” just now.

Yet more tie dye. I wouldn’t wear it with a lime green beenie though…

Dollydagger £122.50

Dollydagger £122.50

Vivienne Westwood for Melissa shoes have been kicking around for ages now but these are the first pair that I truly covet. As if the gorgeous nude shade wasn’t enough there is the chic pearl strap AND they are Tutti Frutti scented!!!! Paired with the pink lace Pop Couture dress – Oh yes please!

Again I’ve tried to find items from unknown/smaller companies. I want to (slowly) break away from the high street. I fall in love with many pieces I find on the internet but still fall into the habit of heading into town and spending in Primark/River Island/Dorothy Perkins etc etc.

What do you think of trying new brands via the internet? Any new trends you are trying for Spring?

You Belong To Me

I’ve been searching for the ideal everyday black handbag – post coming soon- but in the meantime I’ve found these lovelies that although don’t live in my price bracket they belong on my arm.

It’s not that I’m a pauper, oh no, I’ve got a fair few DKNY bags in my collection, an extensive collection that must be worth a fair few quid now. But I now longer have the funds to go out and spend 3 figures on a handbag that I really don’t need. However as I’m such a spoilt bitch, thanks to the ma and pa, I still covet pretty things so this wishlist is here to inspire me to find a full time, well paid job so I can indulge myself again!

Smaak £195 Available at Covet

This bag doesn’t cost the earth, is a neutral colour and a decent sized shape, can you see why I need this in my life?!

Loeffler Randall £435 Available at Harvey Nichols

Such a stunning colour, would be a real stand out piece but surprisingly easy to wear. Neutrals, navy, black, white – this bag would add a little pop to all these colours.

REISS £225

REISS £225

The shape and gold detailing give this bag an art deco vibe which adds a touch of class to any ensemble. Can imagine this being popular just now what with the hype about The Great Gatsby (which I am dying to see).

Modaly Kelis Tote £220 Available at John Lewis

Modalu Kelis Tote £220

This is the bag that would make me feel like a “proper” grown up.

Radley £349

Radley £349

I already own a Radley bag but not as pretty as this ladylike number. This looks dainty but is a big enough bag to carry around day to day essentials.

Fossil £165

Fossil £165

I have a “thing” for tan bags but this one really makes my heart flutter. Looks basic enough but it’s all in the little details such as the stitching and buckles.

Mango £114.99

Furla £199.99 Avaiable at TK Maxx

The website says this is dark brown although it looks black to me. Regardless this is a classic shape and every woman needs an understated bag like this in their collection.

Whaddya think of my picks? Any expensive bags you’ve got your eye on?

Yet Another Girl Crush

I’ve posted about 5 girl crushes before (check them out here) yet none come close to how envious I am of Girl Crush #6’s wardrobe. Ladies and gents I give you Millie Mackintosh.

yagc mm1

The Made in Chelsea star and fiancée of Professor Green, Millie is also a makeup artist with her own range of lashes and let’s not forget THAT slap with bellend Spencer Matthews. But that’s not why I love her. It’s her to die for wardrobe and eclectic dress sense that I adore.

yagc mm6

She’s always been my favourite Made In Chelsea “character” closely followed by Binky.  I fancied Hugo but cheered when Millie threw that drink in his face. I’ve been Team Millie all the way.

yagc mm7 yagc mm5

The girl can rock a hat…. and a swimming suit.

yagc mm4 yagc mm2

A style chameleon she looks polished whatever style she wears.

yagc mm12

This InLoveWithFashion dress costs £38 and is available here now.

yagc mm10

One of my fave Millie Mac looks as I have a very similar hat and faux fur.

yagc mm9 yagc mm8

And of course I HAVE to show a photo of the ring.

I fancied Pro Green before it was cool to fancy him – saw him perform a few years back and having a “thing” for gingers I was smitten from the start – and was genuinely shocked when they first got together, with the way I’d reacted you’d think I knew them personally! But their love is clear to see and I can’t help but smile every time I see another bitchy tweet from Professor Green to whatever attention grabbing fellow MIC “star” is having a dig at Millie.

What do you think about Millie’s style? Are you a fan?

INAA.com Bloggers Event

Any event titled “Bloggers Do It Best” was always going to be a winner in my eyes so I was delighted when the lovely peoples at Alison Jameson PR invited me along to an INAA.com bloggers event. Held at the exclusive 29 in Glasgow, the members club was a bloggers paradise with decadent interiors and an absolutely stunning roof terrace.

As I’m such a crap fashion/beauty blogger this is the only photo of my outfit from that night! I wear black ALOT but felt an event such as this required colour so I went all out with the skinnies from H&M paired with the pink chiffon Primark top and my trusty Jasper Conran bag and then added my standard black items – blazer by H&M, shoes from Peacocks.

Handed a Belvedere Long Vodka as we entered, the many Scottish bloggers listened to the INAA.com founders talk about it’s concept and how Scottish women don’t treat themselves often enough when it comes to hair and beauty treatments. INAA.com is an online salon booking site meaning you can go onto the website and check in real time what appointments are free in selected salons.  The event was sponsored by Bumble and Bumble, Bare Minerals, GHD and Laurens Way. Lauren Goodger was on hand to talk more about her range of tanning and hair products. Many bloggers posed for photos with her although I opted not to as I’m Casper-like as it is so to be stood next to a bronzed goddess….

The lovely Bee from Bumble&Bumble gave THE most amazing hair demonstrations and despite having to wait until the end of the night for my turn, I left the event with BIG hair.
