Liking The Look Of…

Pretty things I’ve seen and want:

Zara £29.99

Zara £29.99

I just think this skirt would be very easy to wear. I’ve lots of red and pink accessories so would pick and choose. Best to pair this skirt with a plain tee.

Charles Philip Shanghai at Harvey Nichols £130

Charles Philip Shanghai at Harvey Nichols £130

Charles Philip Shanghai at Harvey Nichols £145

Charles Philip Shanghai at Harvey Nichols £145

COMPLETELY out of my price range but can we please take a second to absorb the beauty of these babies.

In a variety of prints and materials, these slipper shaped shoes are flats at their best.

InLoveWithFashion £34

InLoveWithFashion £34

Favourite aspect of this playsuit is the long sleeves, perfect for those days when it’s nice out but the sun isn’t splitting the stones. I’d wear this with a denim waistcoat and tan wedges.

Tripp NYC at DollyDagger £65

Tripp NYC at DollyDagger £65

I have a thing for polka dots. And stripes. And black. And white. And red. Can you see where I’m going with this??

This scalloped necklace almost looks like a metallic collar. Could be worn with most outfits.

I feel I should be over mullet hems by now but there’s something about the colour and print of this dress that appeals.

Whaddya think of my picks? What have YOU been lusting after recently?

“I Just Can’t Get You Out My Head…

…I didn’t want you there in the first place”

No that is not a Kylie song but rather lyrics from The Pigeon Detectives song Caught In Your Trap but it is appropriate for today’s posting.

Back in July I mentioned here about craving a black pleated leather skirt, I eventually bought the Henry Holland for Debenhams one. Out of nowhere recently I’ve been craving a black fringed skirt. Not a long boho one, but a short(ish) fringed, black skirt. On a miniscule budget. Some might say I’m delusional but I eventually found the ideal skirt to curb my pleated leather skirt craving so I’m hopeful I can do the same again. Here’s what I’ve found so far:

Available at YOOX £89

Available at YOOX £89

Nice skirt but too short and outta my price range.

ASOS £35

ASOS £35

Not keen on the sparkle through the fringing but that could just be me being pernickety.

ASOS £75

ASOS £75

Pretty much ideal apart from the price tag! The real leather means this skirt is more of a A/W skirt rather than a S/S one.

Jeane Blush at Nelly £15.95

Jeane Blush at Nelly £15.95

Liking this apart from the wide jersey waist band.

Estradeur at Nelly £12.95

Estradeur at Nelly £12.95

Saw this and excitedly though “This could be the one!” except it only goes up to a size 12. Major va-doof right there. How can they justify classing a size 12 as a large?

I’m kicking myself because I had a skirt almost identical to the one above years ago and gave it to charity! THIS IS WHY I SHOULDN’T THROW THINGS OUT!

Missguided £14.99

Missguided £14.99

Not a fan out the studs on the waist band.

What do you think? Am I being too pernickety with these choices? Should I just give up? Can you recommend somewhere?

A Treat For Your Hair

In February following our trip to Stobo Castle (which you can read about here if you haven’t already done so) Jade made up gift bags of cosmetics and skincare products for us to recreate a spa at home experience. Amongst the goodies was the Neal & Wolf Harmony Intensive Care Treatment which I waxed lyrical about, I may have even referred to it as a miracle product. Following my glowing reviews you can imagine my delight when Neal & Wolf sent me their Ritual Daily Cleansing Shampoo and Ritual Daily Conditioner to try.

The deep purple and design of the packaging look very sleek and what I love most about the products, apart from the heavenly smell, is the size difference. Nothing bugs me more than finishing a bottle of shampoo and still having half a bottle of conditioner left over. This shampoo is 250ml whilst the conditioner is 200ml. A marketing winner in my eyes!

Hair freshly washed with the Ritual Daily Cleansing Shampoo and Conditioner.

The products gave life to my dyed blonde hair, left my tresses silky smooth and the divine smell lasted for hours. Recently I was asked by 2 different people what scent I was wearing when I didn’t have any perfume on, these honestly smell that good.  In fact after a male friend used my shampoo and conditioner, even though he was told NOT to use “the good stuff”, he was teased in his work for wearing perfume!

Neal & Wolf brand their products as “Indulgence Redefined” and I have to say I totally agree! The shampoo, conditioner and intensive treatment all feel like a luxury or a treat for the hair but the prices are affordable enough for every day use. My hair has never been in such great condition.

Other Neal & Wolf products available to buy include: Super Shine Spray, Volumising Lotion (which I’m dying to try next) and Smoothing Blow-Dry Balm.

Available online at Neal & Wolf and from professional salons, prices start from £10.95

I Can See Clearly Now The Rain Has Gone…

This post was scheduled for last week during that rare event when we had 2 sunny days in a row! Unfortunately it didn’t post  and now with the weather being back to normal (i.e. cloudy and blowing a gale) the effect is somewhat lost!

I practically live in black clothes so on the odd occasion I actually wear an ensemble that doesn’t contain any black I HAVE to take a photo and blog about it!

Green top: Henry Holland

Jeans: H&M

Caridgan & Shoes: New Look

Belt: Peacocks

Sunglasses & Bag: Vintage

I LOVE this colour combo. The outfit feels fun and is very casual for me but I still feel presentable! The top hs little swimming ladies on it as well as polka dots. Mixing that print with striped shoes and polka dot sunglasses shouldn’t really work but I think because it’s all in small doses I’ve carried it off. Unfortunately this outfit didn’t get an outting to anywhere exciting, a day of running errands 😦

What do you think of my outfit?

Empties: Yay or Nay

I’ve been meaning to do a beauty related post for ages so here we go: Products I’ve used up and whether I’d buy them again or not.

(ignore the wrinkled duvet please!)

What: Happy Hair Days Rosemary & Mint Thickening Shampoo

Where: Sainsburys. Also available at Boots and online

Price: £3.99

Pro’s: Pleasantly surprised with the results, worked better than many more expensive volumising shampoos. Also for those of you who are concerned about what chemicals you put in your hair this is not 100% natural but almost! It is paraben and SLS free. Although this is mint scented it isn’t overpowering like some mint product can be.

Cons: Use much more shampoo than conditioner, I’ve still got almost a full bottle of the conditioner left.

Repurchase? : Yay! A great value buy.

What: Dr Jart + Water Fuse BB Cream

Where: Glossybox. Also available at Boots

Price: £12

Pro’s : One of the best BB Creams I’ve tried! SPF25 coverage without feeling too heavy on the skin, this BB cream has become my daily go-to. Have even tried this under foundation for a night out with great effects.

Con’s : Not really suitable for those who prefer full coverage.

Repurchase? : Yay! Love this product.

What: Garnier Skin Perfector BB Cream

Where: Superdrug. Also available at Boots, Sainsburys, online etc.

Price: £7.99

Pro’s : The first BB cream I ever tried, was initially impressed with this until I used the Dr Jart + one. I can use either the light or medium shade.

Con’s : I found this quite drying so moisturizer immediately before applying is a must.

Repurchase? : Nay! I’d rather pay a fiver more and buy the Dr Jart+ BB cream.

What: Beautiful Movements Dewy Perfection Finishing Powder

Where: Glossybox. Also available at

Price: £8

Pro’s: Used either under or over foundation I LOVED the finish this gave my makeup. The brand says all their products are vegetarian suitable and free from chemical nasties.

Con’s : The size is a little small but you don’t need to use a huge amount of product.

Repurchase? : Yay! A makeup bag staple.

What: Rituals Cherry Blossom & Rice Milk body cream

Where: Glossybox. Also available at

Price: £5

Pro’s :  The smell is heavenly and the rich cream is very hydrating. Used this before my spray tan and I wasn’t left too streaky!

Con’s : Though I had finished this product  but when I cut it open to get the last drops there was still quite a bit left.

Repurchase? : Yay! For the smell alone!

What: Fat Hair Thickening Spray

Where: Superdrug

Price: £5.99

Pro’s : Smells very sweet. Thickens hair.

Con’s : Feels sticky

Repurchase? : Nay. Prefer the Fat Hair shampoo and conditioner.

That’s what I’ve been using up. Have you tried any of these products? Any thoughts?

Zen Beauty Event

Bad blogger that I am only just getting around to posting this but I lost the wire for my camera so excuse me if you’ve already read about this but this is my take on the Zen Beauty Event which took place in the Teviot Place branch in Edinburgh on Thursday 4th April. Myself and a whole host of bloggers were invited along to see the salon after it’s revamp and it has to be said the place is GORGEOUS! All whites and purple with gorgeous floral arrangements and iPads in every room so you can choose from a variety of playlists each treatment room had adjustable lighting – low for relaxing massages and super bright for various beauty treatments amongst others.

Complimentary treatments were being offered to the attendees – Blink and Go lashes, HD Brows and Shellac nails. While Jade opted for the Blink and Go lashes (you can read her review here) I was offered a Shellac appointment. I’ve had Shellac a few times before and love how long the nails remain shiny for. I’m rubbish at doing my own nails, rubbish I tell ye, the usually chip within a few hours regardless of how many coats or topcoats or even which brand I wear so Shellac is perfect for me. I opted for the coral/pinky shade of Tropix and received many, many compliments on it.

This photo really doesn’t do the actual colour justice! I was told my Shellac would last 2-3 weeks unfortunately I chipped one of my nails on a bottle of Jack Daniels (not mine!) so I have removed it.

Zen offers a vast array of treatments and the one I’m must anxious to try is the White to Brown tanning treatment. At £35 a go (or £175 for 6) this isn’t the cheapest spray tan around but as the colour has purple tones it means you won’t be subjected to a fake looking orange tan instead you’ll look like you but with a natural tan.

Zen are currently offering 2 for 1 on facials so if you are based in the Edinburgh area I’d highly recommend a visit.

Never Trust The Weather App

Picture the scene: I’m laying in bed snoozing the alarm every 5 minutes after having a restless night, trying to put together today’s outfit in my head. Instead of leaving my cosy warm bed I stupidly relied on the iPhone weather app. NEVER AGAIN! Yes it said there would be rain at some point but I naively believed the little sunny sign. And before any smart ass asks – I didn’t know you could break it down hour by hour, I’ve only just got the iPhone after my Blackberry died (RIP). Imagine my horror when leaving the house in a maxi dress and pumps that the heavens had opened and it was pouring down and I had left my umbrella in work. Luckily Carla was kind enough to loan me her brolly as she had dressed appropriately for the weather.

Yes I was clashing animal prints. No I don’t care. My love of animal print shall be documented on here real soon, I plan to blog about the abundance of animal print clothing, footwear and accessories I own.

So now I’m sitting here in a wet dress and I’ve swapped my soaking shoes for warm socks. Next time I’ll just haul my lazy ass outta bed and check the weather for myself!
