Girl Crush #4

If you saw Lindsey Wixson in the street without any make-up on, most people would think her  tad strange-looking. However, I am enthralled with her “kooky” exterior and her unique mouth is certainly a talking point!

While there is no chance of hell in me EVER having a body like Lindsey’s I can appreciate her beauty and hope that if there is a God in my next life I’ll be reincarnated as someone as quirky and gorgeous as my latest Girl Crush!

The Great British Summer is in full flow (apparently) and by now we are accustomed to dressing for rain/blustery winds/snow etc etc but have we lost the art of appropriate summer workwear? Judging by some of the sights I’ve seen recently I must agree. When out for lunch last week I saw an obscene amount of women sporting black tights despite the 23 degree sunshine! For me it’s all about bare legs during the summer but for those that aren’t brave enough tights can still be worn, why not try a different colour such as a dove grey or pastel colours. For those who’d like to embrace bare legs but worry about Casper the ghost having more colour, whack on a bit of St Moritz fake tan and you’re all set.

Some magazines have had fashion spreads with summer workwear in mind but what they don’t factor in is that not every woman works in an office/ formal environment. Plus there’s the expense aspect of it as well: who knows how many days (that’s right I said days rather than weeks) of sunshine we still have to come so why spend alot of money on something which, chances are, you’ll only get the opportunity to wear a handful of times before we are back in thick tights and jumpers?! Also with more social opportunities in the summer (beer garden anyone?) these dresses have the versatility to be accessoried in various different ways for different occasions which is a major plus in my book.

Below I’ve found 30 summer dresses which should see you through “Summer”

Mango

£29.99

£22.99

For those who aren’t brave enough to ditch the black entirely the striped dress should still keep you comfortable whilst allowing a pop of colour. The white dress comes in other colours but to me this feels the most sunshine friendly and you could go for colour clash accessories.

Glamorous UK

£24.99

£29.99

With both of these printed dresses you could sling a cardi or cropped denim jacket over them, add a couple of bangles, tan wedges and you are good to go.

Matalan

£16

£18

Definitely purse friendly and the lengths appear to be “office” appropriate, the polka dot umber puts me in mind of Julia Roberts in the polo scene in Pretty Woman!

ASOS

£25

£25

£30

£30

ASOS is always a great place to go for dresses and there is a massive range of dresses available for £30 and under.

Dorothy Perkins

£24.99

£24.99

£25

£26

Again I’m most drawn to the polka dot dress although the pale blue printed dress reminds me of Cath Kidston.

New Look

£29.99

£27.99

I’m not usually a fan of New Look dresses but from the website these look quite nice. Has anyone seen them in store or own them? What are your thoughts on them?

TK Maxx

£16.99

£19.99

£29.99

£29.99

I’m having a bit of a love affair for TK Maxx right now after buying a Cynthia Rowley dress which fits like a dream for under 30 quid which I shall post photos of soon. I also picked up a pair of Guess snakeskin heels for £39.99 and the price per wear is already looking good 😉

Wallis

£25

£30

When shopping on the high street I do tend to forget about Wallis but the above dresses show that they can cater for a younger market. I really like the top dress, the touch of lemon is lovely.

Asda

£16

Such a prettiful summer colour and the skater style will hide any BBQ bumps!

AX Paris

£30

See a theme developing here?!

Nelly

£29.95

This is a love heart print and I love the collar.

The Stellar Boutique

£27.50

You could mix and match a whole load of accessories with this dress thanks to the colours in the lower half.

River Island

£20

£25

£28

£30

Shirt dresses are so easy to wear especially during warmer weather.

So that’s my 30 dresses, I’ve tried to keep black to a minimum but if you feel you have to sport an LBD at least make it a patterned one.

Have I missed any lovely dresses out???

Do you find it easy to dress during summer???
